2.5 HYBRID "2AR-FXE" Engine [e.g. Lexus IS III]

The Toyota 2.5 Hybrid engine (engine code: 2AR-FXE) is an advanced hybrid powertrain designed to be both environmentally friendly and highly efficient. It’s built around Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, which combines the best qualities of a petrol engine and an electric motor.

The petrol side of the 2.5 Hybrid is a 4-cylinder inline engine fitted with Toyota’s D-4S direct injection and VVT-i variable valve timing. On its own it produces 152 hp and 213 Nm of torque, and with the electric motor added in, combined output climbs to as much as 218 hp. Energy is stored in a 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, which recharges during braking and engine braking.

Thanks to the 2.5 Hybrid, emissions are very low, as the engine uses less fuel than a conventional petrol engine. CO2 emissions stay under 100 g/km, making it a genuinely eco-friendly choice.

The engine also runs remarkably quietly and smoothly, with power delivery that feels seamless and unobtrusive. It’s engineered for low fuel consumption and minimal noise and vibration, and its reliability is excellent thanks to high-quality components throughout.

The 2.5 Hybrid engine is found in a wide range of Toyota hybrid models, including the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Avalon Hybrid and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
